Loved this. There was an unusual quietness to the story, but I found it totally engrossing and moving. The characters felt very present and real. And then there's Dingo Creek--what a great name--and the abandoned quarry, which hover over the story like a creepy, haunting presence, a perfect background for the characters' nightmares. I especially loved reading a Lisa Henry story actually set in Australia! I hope there are more to come. Her picture of her homeland is definitely not the fun-loving, friendly place of American cliches. Extra shout-out for the brilliant title.
Bottom line: this was fantastic.
